H.H the Emir inaugurates the Conference / “Sometimes we have a feeling that there are some attempts to put the whole burden of development on the oil-producing countries and in this logic we see some prejudice and disavowal,” HH the Emir said

Emir calls for ‘broader’ policy
Ahead of the UN Doha Conference on Financing and Development, HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani suggested a multilateral approach as the global trade is expected to shrink by 50% in the coming year, limiting employment and economic growth worldwide.
“The solutions to the crisis will not be found in financial reform alone”, but will require an integrated process that recognised the mutual interaction of several interconnected issues in the globalised world,” the Emir told a meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said focusing on the financial crisis alone would not yield any solution.
THE UN has called for a co-ordinated global stimulus package to protect the poorest and most vulnerable rather than focusing solely on the financial crisis, whose bailout dwarfed assistance to many countries.
Cautioning that a cascading series of crises await the world with devastating social and political consequences, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said focusing on the financial crisis alone would not yield any solution.
